ALUCARD ‘LUC’ RAYNE
he/him, noble, light? fairy, fc: regé-jean page
Luc’s mother came from a large family and wanted a large family of her own; alas, fate was not on her side. After decades of failed pregnancies, when all hope was lost, along came Alucard—beautiful and healthy and perfect. He was spoiled rotten and since the Rayne family fortune came from trade, he never wanted for anything. His father was distant—his only interest in children had ever been to produce an heir and to please his wife—but Alucard would have done anything to garner his praise. Luc molded himself into everything his father wanted—the perfect heir for the family business. Ambitious, cutthroat, clever, eloquent, charming, remorseless. He threw himself headfirst into the den of wolves that was high society and he clawed his way to the top with gilded claws and a feral grin. He loved the parties and the gossip and the competition. He developed a reputation as a flirt and a rake, something he embraced wholeheartedly—he had no intentions of settling down any time soon and you'd be amazed what sort of secrets people will spill when they think you're going to sleep with them. He makes connections easily but he rarely makes friends—that required a bond of trust that simply didn't come to Luc easily. The loneliness eats at him more nights than not, but he pushes it down with an iron fist. He was born for greatness and he won't let anything get in his way.

ELLIOT DARLING
he/him, medic/doctor?, mind fairy, fc: matthew daddario
"How terrible it is to love something that death can touch."
All or nothing, best friends or not friends at all – Elliot was never very good at shades of grey. He is firm in his convictions and will not hesitate to fight tooth and nail for what he believes in. He will stop at absolutely nothing to achieve his goals and end up where he wants to be. This unwavering tenacity is both bad and good; it has gotten him into every fight he’s ever been in and it is the reason he is as authentic a man as he is today. When a person is angry, they run either hot or cold; Elliot Darling is of the latter category. He can cut someone out of his life with a dispassionate efficiency, can ruin a reputation with calculated ease, will use your most deep-seated insecurities against you seemingly without remorse. He fights dirty because he fights to win. Elliot can be prideful and has an arrogant streak, but he has a good heart and he does what he thinks is right, no matter the cost to himself.
Elliot Darling is the middle child of three. Elliot was raised to be polite, elegant, and eloquent, but he was also raised to be curious, independent, and open-minded. He has seen the inner workings of the social elite; he knows how they tick and he knows what would destroy them. Elliot was taught violin and piano from a young age, could ride horses before he could walk. Elliot’s childhood home was a sprawling property on the outskirts of Harge.
With his father working long hours and his mother taking frequent trips to and from Nyre for business, Elliot and his siblings were raised mainly by nannies and taught by tutors. As a result, the Darling children became incredibly close. Elliot’s older sister, Eliza, was the quietly brilliant one, practical and direct, the one destined to follow in their father’s footsteps some day. Elliot himself was the curious one, asking questions about anything and everything, intelligent like Eliza but in a much more cunning sense of the trait. Elliot’s younger brother, Ephraim, was the one with the smile that could power cities, with a laugh so infectious you couldn’t help but join in. While Elliot and Eliza could be ambitious and coldly intelligent, Ephraim was always warm and kindhearted. His very presence reminded his siblings that there was more to life than intelligence and success.
When Elliot was fourteen and Ephraim was twelve, Ephraim began to complain of a headache. His parents thought it was nothing, but when it didn’t get better their concern grew. Testing was done and they found a tumor in his brain.
The Darlings poured fortunes into their son’s medical treatment but nothing helped. Elliot watched his golden brother’s decline into sickness and grew angry. He blamed the gods for taking Ephraim; the world was a better place with his little brother in it and only a cruel, cruel being would take Ephraim out of it. He would change their places in a heartbeat if he could. Through it all, Ephraim never stopped laughing.
Life went on.
Eliza and Elliot grew closer than ever, becoming nearly inseparable. Their father still worked overtime and their mother still went on frequent trips to Nyre. For all outward appearances, it was if nothing had changed. The Darlings were just as strong as ever; they had to be to keep their political status.
Elliot survived. He learned how to live not with his brother by his side but within him, in his memories. Without Ephraim’s physical presence to temper him, it was easy to grow cold. He embraced his ambition, learned how to smile just right, when to lean in to touch a person’s arm, how to talk his way into and out of anything. A true politician’s son. The older he became, the more he understood his parents’ actions. Keeping up appearances was a shield; it protected them and it gave Elliot and his siblings the childhood they took for granted.

Elliot's magic manifested at a young age. His main powers are empathy, telepathy, and empathetic manipulation. Uniquely, his skills are much more powerful during physical contact to the point of being overwhelming and more often than not he wears gloves to avoid any unwanted contact. Using his powers without skin to skin contact is very hazy and like trying to work through a thick fog, but by touching a person, his powers become sharp and clear.
