In the past, Elise (nostalgic) and Cato had a relationship, and Carina knew about it. Fast forward to now, Cato passed away years ago and there are reports that there's a child with powerful dark powers, mostly in unleashing eldritch creatures/shadow monsters around the world. Curious about this incident, she does a bit of research, figures out it's Elise and since this specific power was a specialty of the Rotherhithe family, she assumes that the child is possibly her nephew and tries to hunt them down so she can reclaim another name to the Rotherhithe family (and therefore, not be the sole heir of the family name because she wants to do what she wants™)

She's clever, manipulative, and has powerful magic. Out of the family, she had her spirit birth (found her magic powers) earlier than all of them, at the age of 12. She's also an accomplished ballet dancer, and the kind of person who wants to know everything about anything. She helps her father with running things for the company because she just has a very strategic mind. However, she also can overestimate her abilities and she has a cruelty streak inside of her. She's fascinated by people's greatest fears
