The days trailing after their father's visit left Cassian distracted, to say the least. It seemed like every time he felt like he had a hold of a situation, everything just came tumbling down. First there was the Ezra situation; the man still hadn't written back, and well, his friends mentioned they'd keep an eye out around Vela, but it seemed like he was absent from the place. Either that meant he was in trouble or he had gone elsewhere; neither situations seemed great if he was honest. Then there was the trade agreement; he had yet to see his father one on one, but that was perhaps the best thing that could happen.
The man terrified him. As much as he now felt a little safer, removed from the situation, the elder Rotherhithe never failed to instil a sense of fear in the young boy's heart. A glare already froze him to the spot, but the thought of the man finding him alone after what had happened sent shivers down his spine. He no longer had the nightmares that plagued his dreams every other night, but that didn't mean he had returned to his place next to Aela in their marriage bed. Sleeping on the couch every night was starting to make his back feel sore too.
Then there was the thing with Lord Wharton, he didn't even want to entertain that thought. He was dozing off as he looked through the amounts of paperwork submitted by the bursar when a servant came knocking at his door.
"Your majesty," the man bowed deeply, "your sister, Lady Carina of the house of Rotherhithe has come to visit."
His sister? He scowled. What the hell was she doing here anyway? She hadn't mentioned anything about a trip to Pyxis. He groaned internally, before fixing the lapels of his shirt and grabbing his coat. It'd be better to meet her in the courtyard rather than the office. The office was an invitation to sit, and Cassian certainly didn't want that. He followed the servant quickly, a dry look on his face as his sister came into view.
