O V E R V I E W
Kelna is home to the religious, several noble families, historians, and those seeking glory through the gem mines near the city. The population here is mainly sun and plant fairies, with nearly zero ice fairy residents. Outside the city limits are ruins, sand dunes, and a few rocky mountains.
Many snakes, lizards, and small mammals live in the surrounding area, and desert shrubs and cacti dot the sand dunes. Exotic fruits and vegetables can be grown with knowledge and water rationing, usually in house gardens within the city.

Hot, arid, and dry, Kelna is a veritable desert. Kelna City is located near a large oasis, but living outside civilization here takes knowledge of the area and of survival tactics. The sandy beaches in the north have several hotels, and while they are expensive, they are a good place to relax in the summer heat.

Kelna is home to the Kelnan Temple, where the High Priest resides. Many fairies are religious, though it varies in intensity, and the most devoted come here to train to be acolytes. More information on religion can be found in the religion thread. Kelna also has many ruins, being one of the first islands settled by ancient fairies. Those studying history also flock here.

Born to one of the wealthiest families in all of Aster. He is the only son, and in a sense, sort of a disappointment to his father, who had expected him to be...for lack of a better word, more masculine than he is. He never had much interest in politics or plans, nor for any of the traditional sport and court parties that the rich partook in. They'd joke that his family was ruthless which was how they'd amass their riches, only to have a son so soft he'd throw it all away. Cassian frankly doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. He's lost; part of him will always want to earn his father's love and pride, even though he knows it's near impossible. He's the kind of fairy who never seems to make up his mind, constantly broody and dramatic, spoiled enough that his words come out with no thought to how they sound. He speaks before thinking and is rather reckless and awkward, but he means well. He really does.

Maya was born to a poor, unbonded mother, who gave her to the Kelnan orphanage when Maya was a baby. She grew up there, doing chores around the orphanage and suffering the rather cruel torture from the older residents. One event went too far, tearing half her left wing off, and Maya vowed that she would never be stepped on again. She left as soon as she was able to, finding a job and lodging in a tavern owned by a crotchety old man. She spent her days working and her nights training physically and magically. Her eyes focused on the Showdown, determined that she would one day win the entire event and make a name for herself. In the three years that she has tried, she has been knocked out in the last round of the qualifiers, due to her lack of developed defense and overly developed offense. Still, Maya keeps working and training, hoping that she will one day win money and fame. Maya is charismatic on the surface, having had to work hard to win the affections of the orphanage mistress. She is uninhibited by social pressure, freely speaking her mind on any topic. She can come off as blunt and unfeeling, but that's just because her tongue works faster than her brain. She hates feeling like she's being taken advantage of, and will become scrappy in a second if she feels threatened. However, she also harbors an intense hatred of discrimination, actively stepping in when others are being taken advantage of. Maya often gives her dinners to homeless dogs and fairies, preferring to go hungry rather than watch others starve. Bright-eyed, bubbly, and bold, Maya has big dreams for herself, and will take any help she can get and push aside anyone who tries to stop her.

Cymbeline was born in Falkirk to a wealthy aristocratic family that were close to the royals. She was raised a single child with everything given to her but she longed for more than just the pretty things in life, she wanted adventure. Always stuck in pretty dresses with pretty company given pretty gifts everyday, she knew there was more to her comfortable life. Her parents envisioned a comfortable life for Cym, married to a powerful delegate or wealthy business owner, so they invested heavily in the education and skill training for Cym growing up. Because of this, Cym is not only musically gifted in both violin and piano, but she is also refined in her public speaking and social skills in preparation for a beautiful but rather staged life. Feeling trapped in her fate, Cym willingly allowed herself to be enrolled in Poplar University, studying politics in order to be intellectually prepared for the world she was raised in, but it was here that she finally found the courage to plan out her escape. Once she finished her education, she left her family in the coverage of night and ran away to Kelna to begin her new life of adventure and to learn more about her Divination abilities. While there, Cym went straight to work, creating a life for herself using the skills and education given to her to network and build her own Jewelry shop, specializing in gem that are forged directly from the mines in Kelna. Having been raised in a wealthy, educated home, Cymbeline is quite classy and refine. She is quite witty thanks to her expansive knowledge. As well mannered and tempered as she is, Cym is un-moving when it comes to her goals and aspirations, making her quite firm and stubborn when it comes to her points of views. Cym is very independent and is one to rarely ask for aid or perspective. Because of her personality, she tends to take a leadership role naturally and may come off as bossy. Her confidence in her abilities comes as easy as taking a breath for this sun Fairy and may be often misinterpreted as her being cocky.
Cereus Williams

Cereus is an asshole, to put it simply; he’s callus to those who might try to speak to him, let alone befriend him. Though it isn’t likely that many would want to, seeing as his immediate demeanor comes off as angry and deterring to most. Don’t let him fool you, because like any human he still has his more raw emotions of embarrassment, fear and anguish- however he is determined not to let those parts of himself see the light of day. He is quite prone to fits of anger, usually over insignificant or stupid things- really anything could be a trigger to his rage, it just depends on how his current mood is, most times. He has a bad attitude in general, usually seeing the glass as half empty, instead of half full. He has a bad tendency to get violent when he’s truly enraged, however he may also react to certain situations unexpectedly; he is quite mentally unstable, after all. The years have worn on his soul and turned him into a very bitter fairy in general, however he has his moments of feeling on top of the world, so to speak; usually when he pulls off a heist, or is on top of a lady. Due to his past, Cereus is rather racist towards Ice Fairies, but thankfully there aren’t many in Klena, anyways- just another reason for him moving there. Also he is an extremely paranoid fairy thanks to his past as well- he his highly untrusting, and feels like there’s always someone looking for or watching him. He has little to no remorse for most all of his wrongdoings, so one must be mindful of this unhinged characteristic of his, if they’re aware of it, that is. He enjoys drinking, and so long as he’s in a good mood while he does it you should be alright- but if he’s in a bad mood and drinks, let’s just say you might wanna watch out. Cereus has quite the twisted sense of humor, so he tends to laugh at many things pertaining to more disturbed or inappropriate subjects. He is very sly though, eerily enough, and can be quite charming to a woman when he wants to be. Consider yourself lucky if you are a girl around him, because then you have more of a chance of being hit on, rather than punched in the face, for real. So, to sum Cereus up in one sentence, he’s just a fiery Fairy who’s bridges were burned before he even had the chance to walk upon them.
